Estate Planning, Family Law and Criminal Law in Wilmington, NC

The foundation for Boyles & Callihan, PLLC was laid in 1991, when managing attorney M. Scott Boyles opened the doors of Boyles Law Firm, PLLC. Two decades later, already considered one of the top real estate, estate planning and business formation law firms in southeastern North Carolina, we responded to our clients’ requests to offer our personalized, courteous approach to high quality legal counsel and representation in a broader array of legal services.

Attorney Kristen Kelley Callihan joined the Firm in 2011. She proceeded to quickly and thoroughly establish herself as an exceptional attorney offering the most effective client-centered family law and criminal defense counsel and representation available. Attorney Sara A. Miller joined us in 2017, adding her personalized, client-centered brand of business law and probate estate administration services. Today, both Kristen and Sara have joined Scott as excellent real estate attorneys for the firm, as well, offering our clients additional expertise in this foundational aspect of our practice.

With the firm’s approaching 30th anniversary of service to our community, Scott and Kristen proudly announced their new partnership, Boyles & Callihan, PLLC, with the shared vision of a law firm where we work hard, we work smart, and we work together, always striving to do the best possible job for our clients. The Boyles & Callihan, PLLC partnership positions our firm to offer our decades of experience and practice excellence in service to our clients’ personal, professional, individual and business needs for decades to come - and through all the seasons of their lives, including: real estate acquisitions and sales; estate planning; family law matters; business formations, start-ups, and operations; probate estate administration, wills and trusts; and traffic and criminal law matters.

Scott Boyles is Founding and Managing Partner of Boyles & Callihan, PLLC.  Since 1991, he has led the firm's Real Estate Law Group, Estate Planning Group, and Trust Creation Group.

Scott works alongside our experienced team of real estate paralegals to ensure that every closing is seamless, on-time and on-budget, and he truly appreciates the opportunity to personally meet and sit down with clients when the big day arrives. He is approved legal counsel to every major title insurance company in the nation, having worked closely with real estate clients, lenders, and agents for seamless professional and on-time closings for nearly three decades.

When it comes to estate planning – creating simple Wills, or Living Trusts and robust, comprehensive powers of attorney and advance care directives – Scott works closely with clients listening to their concerns, answering their questions, and designing/assembling the best estate plans for them and their families.  This may include anything from drafting a simple Last Will and Testament to assembling a Living Trust for probate avoidance, wealth transfer and wealth preservation, asset protection, creditor and predator protection for adult and minor children, special needs planning, minimizing the impact of gift and estate taxes, health and disability protection, and business succession planning.

Kristen Callihan has led the firm’s Family Law Group and Criminal and Traffic Law Group since joining the firm in 2011. In 2018, the firm proudly welcomed Kristen as Partner, and she continues to grow the firm’s family law practice, representing clients best interests with premarital agreements, separation agreements, divorce actions, child custody and child support complaints, property distributions post separation support and alimony, and domestic violence protection orders. Kristen also manages the firm’s criminal law practice, handling Traffic infractions such as speeding, driving with revoked license, and tickets associated with minor accidents, misdemeanors and felonies including driving while impaired, assault and battery, theft and property crimes, and probation violations.
