As a local lawyer with deep community roots, Rachel Hernandez enjoys providing quality services to families facing legal related challenges. Located in the western suburbs of Chicago, in St. Charles, Illinois, our firm proudly assists clients in Kane County as well as other communities throughout the area. Rachel and her team often work with other professionals, such as therapists, counselors, financial professionals, and local not-for-profit organizations to help families get through the trying times of divorce, child-related issues, and juvenile (or first-time) criminal charges.
Rachel Hernandez began her career with the Community Crisis Center in 1999 and now serves on their Board of Directors. The center is a not for profit domestic violence shelter and social service agency in Elgin. Rachel has a passion for helping others and community building and attended NIU College of Law committed to pursuing those goals.
After graduating, she served as an assistant state's attorney handling a variety of criminal and civil matters in Boone and Winnebago Counties, with a particular passion for seeking justice for children and victims of violent crimes. As an assistant state's attorney, she managed a unit of six attorneys within the office, conducted bench and jury trials in civil and criminal court, and handled cases ranging from traffic and DUI to juvenile abuse and neglect, home repair fraud and murder. She attended Trial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy training at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rachel left her position with the State's Attorney's Office in 2008 and has since worked in an "of counsel" capacity for both government and private attorneys handling various legal issues including criminal and domestic relations while raising three beautiful children with her husband Jonathon. Rachel enjoys researching legislative changes in the law and has been published in the DuPage County Bar Journal and has presented Continuing Legal Education Seminars to other attorneys regarding criminal and civil updates.
Through her many years of experience dealing with family issues in court, Rachel began pursuing paths toward more peaceful resolutions for families, including mid-marital agreements for reconciliation, mediation, collaboration, and uncontested divorce. Hernandez Hoag Legal Solutions, LLC was established with those purposes in mind.
Rachel has served as a board member and volunteer for many not for profit organizations and still volunteers for the Community Crisis Center.
She is a member of the Kane County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association (serving on the Solo Small Practice Committee), the International Association of Collaborative Practitioners, the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois, Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and serves on the Northern Illinois College of Law Alumni Council.
