If you have been charged with a crime or placed under investigation, it is vital that you contact an experienced criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible. Your lawyer will take immediate steps to investigate the facts of your case and protect your legal and constitutional rights.
From her San Antonio office, attorney Sylvia A. Cavazos serves clients throughout south central Texas. As a former prosecutor who has been practicing criminal law in Texas since 1997, she is prepared to defend clients against the full range of federal and state charges.
Preparation and Experience is the Key
There is at least one defense against every criminal charge. Your attorney's job is to identify any defenses you may have, and then advocate for you and convince the judge, jury or prosecutor that those defenses are valid. That is where knowledge of the law, experience, insight and attention to detail are necessary.
Ms. Cavazos prepares every criminal case, no matter how severe the charges are, with the intention of winning an acquittal or dismissal before trial if possible, but at trial if necessary.
Having spent her entire legal career practicing criminal law in and around Bexar County, she is familiar with the personalities involved in the region's justice system. While professional with her colleagues, she is not afraid to take the lead and aggressively defend her clients' rights.
An Attorney Who Knows Both Sides of Criminal Defense
If you are facing serious criminal charges, you need a lawyer who is prepared to go to trial, if necessary, to ensure that your rights are protected — one who will provide you with personal attention and take the time to understand the facts of your case and your side of the story.
Attorney Sylvia A. Cavazos is an experienced San Antonio criminal trial attorney who personally handles every case from start to finish, defending clients throughout south central Texas against criminal accusations in state and federal court.
An Experienced Former Prosecutor Protecting Your Rights
Ms. Cavazos entered private practice as a criminal defense attorney in 2007 after serving for almost 10 years as an assistant district attorney in Bexar County. As a prosecutor, she worked under two successive district attorney administrations, trying felony, misdemeanor and juvenile matters.
As a result of her experience as a prosecutor, she understands how the government investigates, prepares and tries criminal cases. As a criminal defense lawyer, she uses that knowledge to protect her clients' rights and help them fight to avoid or reduce serious criminal penalties.
