Before hiring an attorney, you should know their background. Unlike some attorneys, who simply concentrate in one area of law, John is truly a man for all seasons. He practices in the areas of commercial litigation, criminal defense, business representation, real estate law, construction law, and contract disputes. From a simple criminal case to complex contract litigation, John has covered and seen it all.
John was born in Paw Paw, Michigan. He later moved to Hawaii with his family when he was 17. John graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He then attended West Virginia University College of Law where he earned his law degree in 1991. Following law school, John clerked for the Honorable Simeon Acoba. John was admitted to practice law in Hawaii in 1991 and he was admitted to practice law in Nevada in 1996. John is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court in both Nevada and Hawaii and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
John has more than twenty-five years of experience practicing law. While some attorneys try to impress you with how hard they will fight for you, nothing can beat true experience. The experience of negotiating a settlement with an insurance company. The experience of handling a felony jury trial. The experience of arguing in front of an appeals court. Unlike some attorneys who have never seen the inside of a courtroom, John has successfully argued in front of the Hawaii Supreme Court, the Nevada Supreme Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. John has the experience of actually changing law and making a difference.
John has a proven track record of helping clients achieve successful outcomes in and out of court. As an experienced lawyer, John has an in-depth knowledge of Nevada law with decades of courtroom success. He is a dedicated attorney who is serious about each of his client’s legal matters. John works hard to provide every client the best legal counsel and trial advocacy.
In addition to being a successful trial lawyer, John is also a skilled negotiator with substantial experience in alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration. John works to help his clients avoid costly and unnecessary litigation when possible.
Since 2001, John has presided over hundreds of cases as an arbitrator, and he has also served as a Short Trial Pro Tempore Judge in Clark County since 2007. As an arbitrator and judge, John is a neutral fact finder who strives to issue rulings that are both consistent with the law and fair to the parties involved.
